Details
The quickest return of anything we sell. Sown thickly rather than as single plants, because menthya is cut as a mat, not picked leaf by leaf.
Cut about five centimetres above the soil and it flushes again for a second cutting. After the second the stems turn woody and bitter — pull it, leave the roots in, and resow. Being a legume it leaves the bag richer than it found it.
Two cuttings is the honest number. This is the shortest-lived thing in the catalogue and we would rather say so than have you expect a season out of it.
No olla in this size — hand water it. Watch for powdery mildew in December humidity; if the leaves go dusty white, cut the whole bag rather than trying to save it.
