Details

Sown from seed split by hand before sowing — the step most people skip, and the reason home-sown coriander so often comes up patchy.

Cut sprigs from the outside and leave the centre growing. Two good cuttings, sometimes three in cool weather. It bolts fast once February warms up.

When it does bolt, do not pull it. Let it flower. Coriander in bloom brings hoverflies and parasitic wasps to a terrace, and those are what keep aphids off your tomato and chilli. The seed you collect afterwards is dhania for the kitchen.

No olla in this size — hand water it.
