Details
Grown from saved local seed rather than hybrid. Broad leaf and a firm stem, so it holds its shape in a palya instead of collapsing the way the softer types do.
Cut and come again: take the top four inches with scissors, leave the base, and it pushes out new growth for three or four more cuttings before it bolts. Let one plant run to seed and you have your own supply for the next round.
This is the one bag we make without an olla — a 6 inch bag has no room to bury one. Water it by hand, daily in summer. It wilts dramatically if you miss a day and recovers within the hour, so do not panic and overcorrect.
